Algerian gendarmerie arrested 16 people in Oran after dismantling a network that allegedly took money through the BaridiMob app. The suspects created fake pages posing as car and motorcycle sales agencies and also stole identities, according to a report published by Ennahar Online.

Algeria's national gendarmerie arrested 16 suspects in Oran as part of the dismantling of a network accused of defrauding citizens through the BaridiMob payment app, according to the gendarmerie's research and investigation services in Oran. Investigators also seized 582,000 Algerian dinars, as well as mobile phones.

The network created fake pages presenting themselves as authorised car and motorcycle sales agencies. Its members also stole the identities of legally constituted persons and employees of Algeria Post, the Algerian public postal operator, before fraudulently entering data into the computer system linked to BaridiMob.
