Hassan Naciri, Morocco's ambassador to Senegal, reaffirmed in Dakar his country's attachment to its territorial integrity and praised Senegal's support on the Sahara question, at a ceremony marking the 51st anniversary of the Green March, on 6 November 2026. He presented this mobilisation, organised in 1975 under the impetus of King Hassan II, as a founding event in Morocco's contemporary history, Senego reports.

The ambassador also highlighted the reforms, infrastructure, major projects and strengthening of social protection undertaken under the reign of King Mohammed VI. He presented the development of the southern provinces as a lever for economic progress and for closer ties between Morocco and its African environment.

Hassan Naciri notably cited UN Security Council resolution 2797, adopted on 31 October 2025, as well as the Moroccan autonomy initiative as major elements in the diplomatic evolution of the Sahara dossier. This commemoration comes ten years after the speech delivered in Dakar by Mohammed VI on the occasion of the 41st anniversary of the Green March, on 6 November 2016.
