Algeria’s National Security services have dismantled a criminal network specialising in forgery and the use of forged documents, tax fraud and money laundering, recovering 23 billion centimes. The alleged loss to the public Treasury exceeds 9,200 billion centimes, or more than 92 billion dinars, according to a police statement published on Thursday 29 October 2026 and reported by the Algeria Press Service (APS).
Twenty-five people were arrested in several wilayas. The investigation, conducted by the central department for combating organised crime under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office, also led to the seizure of lorries, passenger vehicles, stamps and administrative documents, according to National Security.
Investigators identified more than 400 fictitious commercial registers. They were allegedly used to carry out fictitious commercial transactions, move funds outside legal channels and conceal operations linked to tax fraud and money laundering.
The operation comes after several financial cases handled in October, including the seizure of 250 billion centimes in a money-laundering case, announced on 2 October.
