Special prosecutor Alphonse Charles Wright has ordered an investigation into the management of 20 billion Guinean francs allocated to the National School Canteens Directorate, plus 200 million Guinean francs. The Office for the Repression of Economic and Financial Offences will examine the use of the funds and canteen supplies for 2025-2026, according to the special prosecutor’s office.
The special prosecutor at the Court for the Repression of Economic and Financial Offences (CRIEF), Alphonse Charles Wright, has ordered a preliminary investigation into the management of 20 billion Guinean francs allocated in 2021 to the National School Canteens Directorate, according to an instruction dated 29 October 2026. The investigation concerns alleged embezzlement of public funds and corruption and has been entrusted to the Office for the Repression of Economic and Financial Offences (ORDEF).
An additional allocation of 200 million Guinean francs, intended to monitor the directorate’s activities, is also part of the investigation. Investigators are to examine the use of these funds and the supply of rice, oil, beans and salt for the 2025-2026 school year, according to Guinee360.
The foodstuffs delivered in May 2026 were intended for 58,691 pupils at 450 schools and were supposed to cover 83 school days. They were nevertheless already running out in October, prompting the ORDEF to verify stock management and distribution arrangements.
Alphonse Charles Wright requested the questioning and hearing of Saran Fadima Kaba and Mariame Camara, as well as anyone whose criminal responsibility may be established. The DNCaS, created in 2021 under the supervision of the ministry responsible for pre-university education and literacy, implements school food policy, according to Guinee360.
