A Nigerian federal court has ordered the APC to replace Hope Uzodinma with Rochas Okorocha as its senatorial candidate in western Imo State. The judge said Okorocha had won the 18 May primary, ahead of the senatorial election scheduled for 16 January 2027, according to the ruling in Abuja.
The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma to stop standing as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Imo West senatorial election, scheduled for 16 January 2027. Justice Obiora Egwuatu concluded that Rochas Okorocha, a former governor of Imo, had won the APC primary on 18 May, according to Leadership.
The court asked the APC to recognise Rochas Okorocha as the winner and submit his name to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as its candidate for the 2027 general elections. The primary election was monitored by INEC, according to the judgment reported by Leadership.
The decision came on 29 October, the same day that a Nigerian court also designated Okorocha as the senatorial candidate in Imo State, in the court ruling on his candidacy.
