Trade between Algeria and Morocco fell to about 74 million dollars in 2025, an 89% decline since 2021, according to Morocco’s Foreign Exchange Office. Moroccan exports to Algeria are almost non-existent amid the diplomatic rupture between the two countries, Asharq Business reports.
Trade between Algeria and Morocco fell to 740 million Moroccan dirhams in 2025, or about 74 million dollars, from 759.3 million dollars in 2021. The 89% decline over five years comes as diplomatic relations between the two countries have been severed since 2021, according to data from Morocco’s Foreign Exchange Office reported by Asharq Business.
Moroccan exports to Algeria have become almost non-existent. They amounted to just one million dirhams in 2025, or about 100,000 dollars, compared with nearly one billion dirhams in 2021; the products still sold include shoes, wood, electrical equipment and textiles, according to the Foreign Exchange Office’s annual report.
Moroccan imports from Algeria fell from 5.8 billion dirhams in 2021 to 739 million in 2025. The trade balance therefore remained broadly favourable to Algeria, although Moroccan exports slightly exceeded those of Algeria in 2023, at 64.5 million dollars against 64.1 million, according to the same data.
