Russia and Ukraine exchanged 270 prisoners each, including nine civilians repatriated by Kyiv, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Most of the servicemen had been held since 2022, while Russian prisoners were transferred to Belarus to receive medical and psychological care, the authorities of both countries report.

The exchange comes after Vladimir Putin accepted talks with Kyiv and Washington, announced on 21 October, and as Volodymyr Zelensky on 23 October called on his allies to maintain pressure on Russia.
