Champions League: MC Alger beat Enugu Rangers 3-0 in Algeria to overturn deficit

MC Alger qualified for the CAF Champions League group stage by beating Enugu Rangers 3-0 in Douéra, after losing the first leg 2-0. The Algerian club won 3-2 on aggregate, according to Africatopsports.

MC Alger qualified for the CAF Champions League group stage with a 3-0 win over Enugu Rangers on Friday evening at the Ali-Ammar Stadium in Douéra. The Algerian club, beaten 2-0 in the first leg in Nigeria, won 3-2 on aggregate, according to Africatopsports.

Long held back by Enugu Rangers’ compact defence, the players coached by Patrice Beaumelle scored twice to draw level on aggregate before netting a third in the final seconds of normal time. The crowd at the Ali-Ammar Stadium accompanied the comeback, according to Africatopsports.

The qualification places MC Alger among the last 16 clubs remaining in the African Champions League. It comes after the first leg played on 18 October, when the Algerian club was presented as Enugu Rangers’ next opponent in the competition, in the challenge issued to Enugu Rangers. Mouloudia had previously qualified after a 5-0 victory on 12 September, against Nigelec.
