Red Arrows qualify for CAF Confederation Cup groups

Zambian club Red Arrows eliminated Kaizer Chiefs 3-2 on penalties and qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup group stage. After a 1-0 first-leg win in Ndola and a same-score defeat in South Africa, the Zambian Football Association hailed the qualification, according to its president Keith Mweemba.

Zambian football club Red Arrows qualified for the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup by eliminating Kaizer Chiefs 3-2 on penalties on Friday evening in South Africa, according to the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ). After winning the first leg 1-0 in Ndola, Red Arrows lost the return leg by the same score before prevailing in the decisive shootout.

FAZ president Keith Mweemba described the qualification as an important step for Zambian club football. He called on Red Arrows’ management and sponsors to provide the club with the resources needed to prepare for the group stage and set the goal of Zambia returning to four places in continental competitions, compared with two currently.

The qualification extends the campaign that began with Red Arrows’ win over Kaizer Chiefs in the first leg on 18 October. The club had previously reached the second round of the CAF Confederation Cup on 13 September.
