FC Nouadhibou will have to beat FC San Pedro by at least two goals to qualify after losing 2-1 in Ivory Coast in the first leg of their African Champions League tie. The Mauritanian club hosts its opponent one goal behind, reports Africatopsports.
Nouadhibou had held the advantage for a long time before conceding two goals late in the first leg. Spanish coach Francisco Javier López is counting on his team’s collective strength, as well as Abdallahi Mahmoud and striker Moulaye Ahmed, to turn the situation around at home.
FC San Pedro, coached by Tunisian Hassem Belil, will seek to preserve its advantage through its clinical finishing and ability to manage decisive moments. Midfielder Mouhamadou Karamoko and his teammates will need a result in Mauritania to secure qualification.
This match follows AS Nouadhibou’s progress to the second round of the Champions League, announced on 13 September.
