Senegal’s Ministry of Energy and Petroleum announces that supplies of premium petrol and diesel in Dakar will return to normal from Saturday 24 October 2026. The end of the hydrocarbon transporters’ strike should allow deliveries to resume, according to the ministry statement.

The supply of premium petrol and diesel is expected to return to normal in the Senegalese capital from Saturday 24 October 2026, the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum announced. Queues were observed on Friday outside some service stations because of the interruption to deliveries, caused by the three-day strike by hydrocarbon transporters.

Oil depots have sufficient stocks, according to the ministry, which said the disruptions were not the result of a shortage. The end of the strike on Friday is allowing deliveries to the affected stations to resume, while the government is urging users to avoid precautionary buying.

The announcement came the day after the end of Senegal’s general strike, which had lasted three days, and two days after the first disruptions to supplies at service stations in Dakar.
