At 16, Mamadou Sow will be Senegal’s only representative in men’s gymnastics at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games. The gymnast is training at CNEPS Excellence in Thiès ahead of the competition, scheduled for 31 October to 13 November, according to the Senegalese Press Agency.

Sixteen-year-old Senegalese gymnast Mamadou Sow, nicknamed “Rone”, will be Senegal’s only representative in men’s gymnastics at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, the Senegalese Press Agency (APS) reports. He trains at the Centre national d’éducation populaire et sportive (CNEPS) Excellence in Thiès and hopes to compete in front of the Senegalese public.

The Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games will take place from 31 October to 13 November. Mamadou Sow will compete in the apparatus events, in a competition bringing together young athletes taking part in the youth Olympic programme, according to the APS.

His participation comes just days before the start of the Games, after Senegal announced that preparations had been completed on 20 October and postponed the handing over of the flag to the Senegalese delegation on 24 October. The handing over of the Senegalese flag remains the last procedural step mentioned before the opening of the Youth Olympic Games.
