Senegalese Prime Minister Ahmadou Alhaminou Mohamed Lô urged MPs to adopt the 2026 supplementary budget, warning that rejection would prevent construction and public works companies from rebuilding their cash reserves and resuming projects. At a press conference in Dakar on 25 October, he also discussed wages and household spending, according to Le Soleil.
Senegalese Prime Minister Ahmadou Alhaminou Mohamed Lô called on MPs in Dakar on 25 October to adopt the 2026 supplementary finance bill. At a government press conference, he warned that rejecting it would penalise construction and public works companies, workers and households, reports Le Soleil.
According to the head of government, adopting the bill would allow construction and public works companies to rebuild their cash reserves, resume suspended projects, pay suppliers and renew their equipment. He also warned of the consequences for labourers, technicians, engineers and executives, as well as for families facing housing and school expenses.
The press conference comes after the rejection of the 2026 supplementary finance bill. The government had announced the previous day that it would hold a press conference on the supplementary budget, while PASTEF had set five conditions for supporting the bill.
