Senegal’s National Assembly says it is ready to resume discussions with the government on the 2026 supplementary finance bill. Its Finance Committee has asked the Minister of Economy, Finance and Budget for additional documents ahead of the plenary session scheduled for 27 October, according to Lesoleil.

Senegal’s National Assembly is asking the government for additional information and documents on the 2026 supplementary finance bill. The chair of its Finance and Budgetary Control Committee wrote to the Minister of Economy, Finance and Budget on Monday 26 October, according to a statement from the institution published the same day.

The MPs say they are ready to meet the government on Monday afternoon to continue discussions and seek a compromise. The plenary session on the bill is scheduled for Tuesday 27 October. With the committee having completed its work, the Assembly considers that no new formal procedure can reasonably be launched before the review.

The statement recalls that scrutiny of the supplementary finance bill falls to the Finance Committee and parliamentary groups. The Assembly says it is willing to receive a government delegation including, at the executive’s discretion, the Prime Minister, the minister responsible for finance and other ministers concerned. It says a meaningful discussion depends on precise answers to the concerns raised by MPs.

The move follows the Senegalese committee’s rejection of the 2026 supplementary budget, announced on 25 October. The Prime Minister had called for discussions to continue at a conference on the supplementary budget, announced on 24 October.
