Senegalese Prime Minister Ahmadou Al Aminou Mohamed Lo is due to hold a press conference on 25 October 2026 on the supplementary budget bill. The parliamentary finance committee rejected the text after receiving the government’s responses, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.

Senegalese Prime Minister Ahmadou Al Aminou Mohamed Lo will hold a press conference on Sunday 25 October 2026 at 4pm on the 2026 supplementary finance bill. The meeting will take place at the President Mamadou Dia Administrative Building, after the bill was rejected by the National Assembly’s Finance and Budgetary Control Committee, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.

The head of government is due to present the economic and financial analyses underpinning the supplementary budget, which the executive says aims to improve Senegalese people’s quality of life. MPs had notably questioned the government about revenue forecasts, budgetary trade-offs, public investment and subsidies for energy consumption.

Consideration of the bill, which began on 20 October, had been suspended to allow the government to provide additional responses. Work resumed on 23 October with the presentation of a memorandum, but the committee maintained its rejection despite the clarifications, the statement said.

The announced conference comes after calls to protect social spending in Senegal’s 2026 budget and the five demands from PASTEF, made on 23 October.
