After PASTEF MPs rejected the 2026 supplementary finance bill in committee, the Senegalese government says it answered questions about revenue, public investment and energy subsidies. In a statement, the executive says Prime Minister Al Aminou Lô will present his economic and financial analysis at a press conference announced for Saturday 24 October.

The Senegalese government has announced a press conference by Prime Minister Al Aminou Lô to present the economic and financial arguments for the 2026 supplementary finance bill, rejected by the Finance and Budgetary Control Committee. The meeting is intended to explain the budget choices aimed at improving the quality of life of Senegalese people, according to a government statement reported by Seneweb.

Consideration of the bill began on 20 October before being suspended to allow the executive to answer MPs’ questions about revenue, public investment and energy subsidies. Work resumed on 23 October with a memorandum of responses, but the committee maintained its rejection despite the clarifications presented, according to the government statement.

The press conference announced for 24 October comes after the Finance Committee rejected the 2026 supplementary finance bill and objections over 340 billion CFA francs in budget revenue. It also follows demands made by PASTEF on 23 October in order to support the supplementary budget, according to headlines previously published by Seneweb.
