Babacar Ba, coordinator of the Forum of the Justiciable, is calling for Senegalese authorities to verify Madiambal Diagne’s allegations against Ousmane Sonko. He also refers to a reported search and money seizures cited by the Network of Whistleblowers, according to Senegal7.

Babacar Ba, coordinator of the Forum of the Justiciable, has called for an investigation into allegations by Madiambal Diagne against Ousmane Sonko, Senegal’s prime minister. He said the seriousness of the alleged facts requires their veracity to be checked and called on President Bassirou Diomaye Faye to address the state’s silence, according to Senego, citing Senegal7.

The controversy also concerns the judicial handling of the case. Babacar Ba said officials from Ellipse Projects, named in the financial prosecutor’s indictment, are continuing their activities without having been questioned, which could make the proceedings look like a settling of scores rather than an effort to establish accountability, Senego reports. The Network of Whistleblowers has also called on Ousmane Sonko and his lawyers to explain an alleged search of his apartment in the Senegindia estate and the reported seizure of sums in CFA francs, euros and US dollars.

Alioune Tine, founder of Afrikajom Center, has called on Ousmane Sonko to take the matter to court. Babacar Ba also noted that OFNAC can open an investigation on the basis of an anonymous report, and called for the allegations to be examined to dispel suspicions of bias.
