Souleymane Gadiaga has asked President Bassirou Diomaye Faye to examine a possible withdrawal of the extradition request for Madiambal Diagne, in accordance with Senegalese law and French procedure. The request comes as Diagne faces criminal allegations in Senegal, which the justice system has yet to establish, according to Senego citing Xibaaru.
Souleymane Gadiaga has asked Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye to examine the legal and diplomatic avenues for possibly withdrawing the extradition request for Madiambal Diagne, in proceedings being handled by the French justice system. In a letter dated 18 October 2026, he invited the head of state to act in accordance with the Constitution, the law and Senegal’s commitments, according to Senego, citing Xibaaru.
Souleymane Gadiaga said he did not want to replace the magistrates or seek special treatment. He believes a solution compliant with the law could prevent tensions from worsening, provided that the applicable law, the state of the proceedings and the authorities’ powers allow it.
The appeal comes as Mouhamed Diagne filed a complaint on 21 January against his father, Madiambal Diagne, and his aunt, Mabintou Diaby, with the Criminal Investigations Division. The allegations, which include forgery, fraud, breach of trust and money laundering, have yet to be established by the justice system.
