Senegalese Prime Minister Al Aminou Lo has asked Pastef to open its next press conference to journalists’ questions. He presented press questions as a means of promoting transparency and debate, according to Senego.

Senegalese Prime Minister Al Aminou Lô has asked Pastef, the party led by Ousmane Sonko, to turn its next press briefing into a conference open to journalists’ questions. He presented this exchange of views as a condition for transparency in political communication, according to Senego.

Al Aminou Lô said the government had chosen to give journalists the floor because this openness reflected the expectations of Senegalese people. He therefore called on Pastef leaders to abandon a one-sided statement, reports Senego.

The request comes after the prime minister announced a conference on the supplementary budget on 24 October. It follows Pastef’s announcement of a press conference on the budget, published the same day.
