The Finance and Budgetary Control Committee of Senegal’s National Assembly rejected the 2026 supplementary finance bill (LFR). The Pastef parliamentary majority also rejected the two amendments presented by the government during consideration of bill No. 40/2026, reports Dakaractu.
The vote therefore concerns the entire budget bill as well as the changes proposed by the executive. The committee meeting was devoted to consideration of the Senegalese state’s supplementary budget, according to Dakaractu.
The rejection comes after public criticism of the handling of the supplementary budget. On 19 October, Aldiouma Sow accused Ousmane Sonko, Senegal’s prime minister, of blocking the bill for personal reasons, while Sonko denounced the government’s alignment with the IMF on the same day. On 22 October, Al Aminou Lo refused a televised debate on the 2026 supplementary finance bill.
