Senegalese Prime Minister Ahmadou Al Aminou Lô says the International Monetary Fund could schedule Senegal’s case from mid-November if the requested information is provided. He also mentions budget support from the World Bank and other lenders, which could support investors and debt recovery, according to his interview with RFI.
The International Monetary Fund could put Senegal’s case on its agenda from mid-November, if the remaining information is provided, Prime Minister Ahmadou Al Aminou Lô said in an interview with RFI, Le Soleil reports.
The head of government believes this step could help unblock the situation for foreign investors and Senegalese private companies struggling to recover debts. He said the issue was not limited to the amount of any potential IMF financing.
Al Aminou Lô also mentioned budget support from the World Bank and other lenders. He linked these prospects to the adoption of the 2026 supplementary finance law, amid difficulties with revenue and postponed expenditure. Senegal announced the postponement of 295 billion in expenditure on 25 October, in a context of budgetary constraints.
