Fifty-nine migrants who departed from Senegal were brought ashore at the port of La Restinga on the island of El Hierro, in the Canaries, on Monday morning, 26 October 2026. Spanish maritime rescue services rescued them after spotting their pirogue south of the island, according to Seneweb.
The Salvamar Navia rescue vessel intervened at around 6.50am and transported the group to the quay at La Restinga, in the municipality of El Pinar. The migrants then received medical assistance and were taken into the care of emergency teams, according to Seneweb.
The group included three women and four minors. One person was taken to Nuestra Señora de los Reyes Hospital for treatment, the Senegalese media outlet reports.
The arrival came three days after 228 migrants landed in the Canaries aboard two pirogues that departed from Senegal on 23 October.
