Guinean security forces made a record kush seizure in the Sandervalia district of Kaloum, in the heart of Conakry, during an operation on 26 October. The operation, carried out at the request of Prosecutor General Fallou Doumbouya, is part of a campaign targeting crime hotspots, Africaguinée reports.
Guinean security forces seized a record quantity of kush, concealed in six large drums, during an operation conducted on Monday 26 October in the Sandervalia district of Kaloum, according to Africaguinée. The operation was carried out at the request of Fallou Doumbouya, prosecutor general at the Conakry Court of Appeal, as part of a clearance operation targeting areas considered to be crime hotspots.
Fallou Doumbouya said the state was mobilising significant resources to investigate criminal networks, arrest their members and provide support for them after their conviction. Sweeps are to continue in other targeted areas of the special zone of Conakry, before being extended to Kindia, Labé, Mamou and Boké.
The seizure comes two days after the discovery of a cannabis plantation in Conakry on 24 October, and four days after the Conakry prosecutor’s office ordered action against criminal networks on 22 October.
