Long queues have formed outside Dakar petrol stations as motorists struggle to obtain fuel. Oil sector officials attributed the disruption to the general strike and slower tanker deliveries, with a return to normal expected after activities resume, according to Seneweb.
Long queues formed outside petrol stations in Dakar on Friday 23 October, disrupting fuel supplies for motorists and two-wheeled vehicle users. Fuel remains available and the difficulties are linked to the general strike by trade union confederations, according to oil sector officials contacted by Seneweb.
The movement of tanker lorries supplying the stations was severely disrupted during the industrial action. Sector officials estimate that it could take a few more hours for normality to return, while the distribution network resumes its usual operations.
The situation comes on the final day of the 72-hour general strike. The action had already led Dakar Dem Dikk to requisition staff from 21 to 23 October.
