Demola Olarewaju, political adviser to Atiku Abubakar at the African Democratic Congress, accuses Nigerian President Bola Tinubu and All Progressives Congress governors of pressuring the opposition ahead of the 2027 election. He says ADC rallies are being obstructed in the north and calls on the authorities to change their approach, in a message posted on X.
Demola Olarewaju, senior political adviser to Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has accused Nigerian President Bola Tinubu of using governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to intimidate the opposition ahead of the 2027 presidential election. He also claims that the APC is seeking to prevent ADC rallies in northern Nigeria and restrict social media in some states, according to the Daily Post.
Demola Olarewaju specifically accuses the APC of trying to hinder Atiku Abubakar’s campaign through acts of intimidation in Edo, Kaduna, Rivers and Sokoto. He also cites the alleged assault of opposition figure Omoyele Sowore in Ekiti and calls on Bola Tinubu to abandon this strategy, saying it could lead to an escalation of tensions, according to remarks published by the adviser on the social network X.
The accusations come after Atiku condemned the assault of Omoyele Sowore in Ekiti on 31 October and the call made on 28 October by the ADC in Osun to defeat the APC in 2027.
