The African Democratic Congress (ADC) branch in Osun State is calling on Nigerian voters to reject the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections. In a statement signed by its communications officer in Osun, Oluwaseun Abosede, the party accuses the government of mishandling economic and security difficulties, reports the Daily Post.
The Osun State branch of the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on Nigerians to vote against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections. It accused the party of failing to demonstrate its ability to govern effectively, according to a statement signed on Tuesday by Oluwaseun Abosede, the ADC’s communications secretary in Osun, and reported by the Daily Post.
The ADC also rejected APC allegations that it had not paid employees at its secretariat for more than a year. The party described the claims as an attempt to damage its credibility and portray it as incapable of governing. It was responding to a statement attributed to the APC Presidential Campaign Council.
The opposition party accused the government of diverting attention from economic difficulties, including the rising cost of living, insecurity and financial pressures on households and businesses. It also defended the record of Rauf Aregbesola, its national secretary and a former governor of Osun, who has faced criticism over salaries and pension obligations under his administration. The ADC highlighted the construction of 170 schools, reduced fees at public higher education institutions and assistance for medical students undertaking clinical placements abroad.
According to the ADC, the O-YES programme created jobs for thousands of young people. The party also claimed to have completed more than 300 kilometres of urban roads and 222 kilometres of rural roads, with support from the World Bank and the French government under the Rural Access and Mobility Programme. The statement comes amid Nigeria’s debate over the 2027 presidential election, after Peter Obi said Tinubu was incapable of governing Nigeria on 26 October.
