The Pastef-Les Patriotes parliamentary group voted against the first part of the 2027 initial finance bill, rejected on 7 November by the National Assembly's Finance Committee. The party cites the late submission of budget documents, among other reasons, according to its statement, following the rejection of the 2026 revised budget on 3 November.
The Pastef-Les Patriotes parliamentary group voted against the first part of Senegal's initial finance bill for 2027, which was rejected on Saturday 7 November 2026 by the National Assembly's Finance Committee. The party of Ousmane Sonko justified its opposition by citing the late submission of several budget documents and inconsistencies in the forecasts, according to a Pastef statement.
The budget bill was submitted on 12 October, but the multi-year expenditure programming documents and annual performance plans were not submitted until 5 November. The debt management strategy followed on the evening of 6 November, while an erratum modifying substantial figures was communicated on the eve of the committee's proceedings, according to Pastef.
The party also contests the use of assumptions from the 2026 supplementary finance bill, which was rejected on 3 November. It points in particular to a discrepancy in expected growth for 2027, announced at 1.5% by the minister and set at 2.4% in the bill, as well as two deficit figures of 1,334 billion and 1,351.7 billion CFA francs. Following the erratum of 6 November, revenue fell by 176.7 billion CFA francs, compared with a 70.2 billion reduction in expenditure, while the financing requirement increased by 533.5 billion.
Pastef also contests the reduction in energy subsidies, from 790.3 billion to 477 billion CFA francs, in the name of protecting purchasing power. The rejection comes four days after the National Assembly rejected the government's 2026 supplementary finance bill, announced on 3 November rejection of the 2026 supplementary budget.
