Disciples of Cheikh Al Islam El Hadji Ibrahima Niass took to the streets of Dakar on Sunday 8 November for “Baye Niass Day”, a day dedicated to the memory of the Senegalese religious leader, Senego reports.
The commemoration notably highlights El Hadji Ibrahima Niass’s teaching on knowledge, spiritual education, love of the Prophet Mouhamed and service to Islam, according to Rewmi. Founder of Médina Baye in Kaolack, he contributed to the expansion of the Tidjaniya in several countries in Africa, the Middle East and Europe through Fayda Tijaniyya.
In 2019, thousands of Nigerian disciples gathered at the Kano stadium to celebrate the birth of Baye Niass, a commemoration organised in turn in Nigeria, Rewmi reports.
