Kenya's Principal Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi, urges residents of Western Kenya to strengthen their parliamentary representation ahead of the 2027 general election. At an UDA delegates' meeting in Shitoto, Kakamega County, he said more MPs would allow the region to have greater influence over budgetary and national decisions, reports The Standard.
Musalia Mudavadi, Kenya's Principal Secretary, is urging Western Kenya to elect more MPs in the 2027 general election to increase its influence in Parliament. He says the number of elected representatives will determine, in particular, the region's weight on the parliamentary Budget Committee, according to The Standard.
Mudavadi considers the Kenyan opposition divided and is calling on its leaders to present voters with clear programmes. He believes these divisions will benefit President William Ruto, who is seeking re-election in 2027, and says he can win in the first round, according to The Standard.
