Kenya’s Parliament is demanding the contract for construction and equipment at the Bomas International Convention Complex, a project worth several billion shillings. The Kenyan Ministry of Defence refuses to release it, citing commercial confidentiality and national security rules, The Standard reports.
For several months, Kenya’s Parliament has been asking the Ministry of Defence for the contract to build and equip the Bomas International Convention Complex (BICC), a conference complex in Nairobi, The Standard reports. The ministry, which took over the project from the Ministry of Gender, Culture and Heritage, has refused to provide the document, citing commercial confidentiality and national security requirements.
The request concerns a project valued at several billion Kenyan shillings. The construction site was photographed on 27 February 2026, according to the caption published by The Standard.
The request comes amid recent parliamentary demands in Kenya, including a call for urgent intervention over the university strike on 22 October. On 1 November, former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua also accused President William Ruto’s team of asking for 50 billion shillings for a railway project, according to an article published the same day on Kenyan rail financing.
