Kenyatta National Hospital, Kenya’s main referral hospital, has completed the renovation of three orthopaedic wards at a cost of 102 million Kenyan shillings. The wards were formally handed over to the Ministry of Health and hospital management on Thursday 29 October, after six months of work, according to Tuko.
The project, funded by Co-operative Bank of Kenya through its foundation, rebuilt and equipped the three wards. It provided 96 orthopaedic beds, including 40 electric beds supplied by the Nakumatt Molo Fire Victims Fund. Renovating each ward cost about 30 million shillings.
The work included improvements to corridors, nursing stations, toilets and rooms. The new equipment includes beds with traction frames for patients with fractures, as well as computerised stations for nursing staff.
