Kenyan police fired tear gas into the room where the Football Kenya Federation's special general meeting was due to be held in Meru, forcing delegates to leave. The meeting had not started when the police intervened, according to the federation, cited by Capital FM.

Officers from Kenya's Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU) fired tear gas into the room where the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) special general meeting was due to be held on Saturday 7 November in Meru, interrupting preparations before proceedings began. Delegates and federation officials left the Three Steers Hotel, according to the FKF.

The FKF said its special general meeting had not yet begun when police entered the room and dispersed the participants. The federation considers that the intervention disrupted a procedure provided for by its constitution, according to an update published on 7 November.

The intervention came shortly after the arrival of McDonald Mariga, a former Kenyan international, accompanied by RDU members, according to images and accounts gathered on the spot. FKF officials were filmed leaving the hotel with their hands raised during the operation.
