A young albino woman was abducted in Ejeda, southern Madagascar, in the 20th such case recorded in 2026, according to Soja Fulgence, president of the albino association. He accuses political figures of helping suspects secure release and calls for investigations into officials involved, according to NewsMada.

The abduction of a young albino woman in Ejeda, in the Ampanihy Ouest region, brings to 20 the number of such cases recorded in Madagascar since the beginning of the year, according to Soja Fulgence, president of the albino association. He accuses elected officials and people in positions of power of helping suspects arrested in these cases to secure their release.

Soja Fulgence says outside interventions regularly obstruct investigations and trials, allowing suspects, in his view, to escape convictions. He cites in particular the case of the 17th victim, who had nearly been beheaded, and calls for investigations into elected officials and other people in positions of responsibility involved in these cases. The association also calls for measures to protect albino people from such violence.

The press conference at which Soja Fulgence made these accusations was held on 6 November in Ampefiloha, according to NewsMada. Human rights organisations are also calling for urgent action against this violence.

The latest case comes after Mahafaly culture was highlighted in Ampanihy during the Soavolo festival on 13 October 2026, Soavolo festival, which was held in the same area of southern Madagascar.
