The NGO Mobile Hilfe Madagaskar (MHM) inaugurated a hospital and logistics centre in Ambovo, in the commune of Ambohidratrimo, Analamanga region, on 6 November 2026, with general consultations and childbirth services costing 1,000 ariary, L’Express de Madagascar reports. The facility is intended to serve residents of fourteen fokontany.

However, financial accessibility does not cover all healthcare-related expenses. Medicines, medical tests and travel to better-equipped facilities can increase the cost of care and lead some patients to delay or discontinue their treatment, according to L’Express de Madagascar.

The facility can handle routine consultations without necessarily having the resources required for complex cases. Qualified staff, equipment and continuity of services therefore remain decisive factors in providing care for residents of remote localities, L’Express de Madagascar reports.
