Madagascan swimmer Tendry Rakotobe finished third in his 50m butterfly heat in 25.62 seconds at the Dakar Youth Olympic Games, failing to reach the final. He still has the 50m backstroke to swim, while Océane Rakotonanahary will compete in the 50m breaststroke, reports Midi Madagasikara.

Madagascan swimmer Tendry Rakotobe finished third in the fourth heat of the 50m butterfly in 25.62 seconds on Wednesday at the Tour de l’Œuf Aquatic Centre, at the 2026 Dakar Youth Olympic Games. This time was not enough to place him among the eight fastest qualifiers for the final, reports Midi Madagasikara.

Tendry Rakotobe will compete in his final event on Thursday in the 50m backstroke, in the fifth heat. Madagascan swimmer Océane Rakotonanahary will also take part in her final race, the 50m breaststroke, in the third heat, according to Midi Madagasikara.

Tendry Rakotobe’s elimination comes after that of Madagascan swimmer Ozavino Ngaka, who did not reach the final of another swimming event at the Dakar Youth Olympic Games. The previous day, Nigerian Aidan Dumuje-Abili had achieved his objective in the competition.
