Transitional president Colonel Michaël Randrianirina inaugurated the regional directorate for Fisheries and the Blue Economy in Mananjary, Vatovavy, on 6 November 2026 to bring administrative services closer to fishers. The local sector supports nearly 60% of the population and produces around 1,300 tonnes a year, while fishing cards were previously obtained only in Manakara. The head of state also inspected a coastal protection project against marine erosion in Ambinagny, an investment of more than 5 billion ariary carried out with the Integrated Growth Pole, according to Madagascar Tribune.

The opening of the regional directorate for Fisheries and the Blue Economy in Mananjary will enable professionals in the Vatovavy region to obtain their fishing cards and permits without travelling to Manakara, reports Madagascar Tribune. Nearly 60% of Mananjary's population reportedly depends directly or indirectly on fishing for its livelihood, with local production estimated at around 1,300 tonnes of fishery products per year.

In Ambinagny, Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, Madagascar's head of state, also inspected a coastal protection project carried out with the Integrated Growth Pole (PIC), according to Madagascar Tribune. The project represents more than 5 billion ariary and is intended to secure around 300 metres of coastline against marine erosion and seawater incursions, with an estimated completion time of ten months.

Traditional representatives, the ampanjaka, also discussed with Michaël Randrianirina the removal of silt from the Pangalanes Canal, improvements to road infrastructure and the illegal exploitation of mineral resources, reports Madagascar Tribune. Mananjary was the head of state's first military posting after his training at the Military Academy, according to the media.
