Iranian forces shot down a US MQ-9 Reaper drone near Qeshm Island, in the Strait of Hormuz, after firing at a US F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet, according to Iranian military sources cited by Zambian Observer. Washington then struck Iranian air-defence launchers.
US embassies in Jerusalem, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, Doha and Manama urged their citizens to prepare for a possible rapid escalation of hostilities, with airspace closures and flight disruptions possible, Zambian Observer reports. The US embassy in Jerusalem notably recommended going to the nearest shelters and downloading the Israeli Home Front Command app.
The incident comes after the MQ-9 shot down claimed by Iran on 2 November. It also comes as Donald Trump, president of the United States, considers resuming the war against Iran, according to a report published on 6 November.
