Iran claims Trump’s electoral defeat after Hormuz war

Iranian officials claim Donald Trump’s electoral defeat was caused by the cost of the war in the Strait of Hormuz for American households. Tehran says it won both the military and political aspects of the conflict, while US options for resuming fighting are reportedly being considered, the Zambian Observer reports.

Iranian officials are claiming a role in Donald Trump’s electoral defeat and presenting the war in the Strait of Hormuz as a military and political defeat for the US president. Rezaei, head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, says Americans paid the cost of the conflict and warns that any leader who attacks Iran will bear the consequences in his own country, the Zambian Observer reports.

An adviser to Iran’s supreme leader says Tehran is the real victor and that the cost of the war has been transferred to the United States. Iranian officials also claim that Donald Trump was defeated on the military and political fronts and threaten to inflict further setbacks on him, according to the Zambian Observer.

Disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz and rising oil prices are presented as factors behind voter discontent in the United States that helped Democrats take control of Congress. US military planners have prepared options to resume major combat operations as early as 5 November, according to the Zambian Observer.

These statements came after the results of the US midterms, welcomed by Tehran on 4 November, and J. D. Vance’s explanations for the Republican defeat, published on the same day. Iran’s parliament speaker, Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf, then said on 5 November that Americans had voted against the war in a separate statement.
