South Sudan’s inter-party dialogue is due to resume on 9 November to finalise and adopt its resolutions on the December 2026 general elections. The plenary session is to prepare the official closure of the process, according to a statement from the general secretariat of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement.
South Sudan’s inter-party dialogue on electoral issues is due to resume on Monday 9 November in Juba to finalise and adopt the resolutions resulting from preparatory discussions for the December 2026 general elections, according to a statement from the general secretariat of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), cited by Eye Radio.
The plenary meeting is to examine the resolutions and the joint communiqué before their formal adoption. The date of the closing ceremony will then be set in consultation with President Salva Kiir, according to the SPLM statement. The discussions lasted two weeks and ended on 10 October.
The inter-party dialogue on electoral issues was opened by Salva Kiir on 24 September at the National Assembly in Juba. It brings together representatives of political parties, government officials, former vice-presidents, diplomats, religious leaders and civil society organisations around electoral issues, Eye Radio reports.
The resumption comes after several developments linked to preparations for the December vote, including the appointment of regional officials by South Sudan’s electoral commission. The dialogue is notably expected to seek consensus on the conditions for peaceful and credible elections, according to Eye Radio.
