Senegal's Health Ministry has recorded 604 cases of acute digestive syndrome in Kébémer, including 56 new cases in 24 hours, with three patients still hospitalised. Investigations into water and food are continuing, while initial tests found no significant contaminating factor.

Samples were taken from patients, water sources and food and sent to several laboratories, including the Pasteur Institute of Dakar and LANAC, as part of investigations into acute digestive syndrome in Kébémer, according to the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene. Initial water tests conducted by SONES, SEN'EAU and the National Hygiene Service found no significant contaminating factor.

The tally recorded on 7 November 2026 at 10.30am shows three patients hospitalised, while the other affected people are being monitored as outpatients or have recovered, according to the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene. The ministry recommends strengthening food and water hygiene and seeking prompt medical attention in cases of diarrhoea, vomiting, abdominal pain or fever.

The episode follows the rise in the number of cases recorded in Kébémer, after 548 cases of food poisoning were reported on 6 November.
