Senegalese ministers Déthié Fall (Infrastructure) and Moustapha Mamba Guirassy (Education) have in turn reaffirmed their support for President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, amid tensions with Ousmane Sonko. The closely timed statements are fuelling speculation about a possible reshuffle, according to Senego.

Senegal's Minister of Infrastructure, Déthié Fall, has reaffirmed his party PRP's support for President Bassirou Diomaye Faye. He said he could not take part in the government while opposing the person leading it, and assured that his party supported the head of state "without reservation", according to Senego.

A few days later, Senegal's Minister of National Education, Moustapha Mamba Guirassy, also said he continued to support Bassirou Diomaye Faye "for the higher interests of the nation", according to Senego. These statements come as members of the government are increasingly being called upon to clarify their position in the tensions between the president and Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko.

The statements by Déthié Fall and Moustapha Mamba Guirassy follow press reports questioning the ministers about their positions. They come after several months of political caution and fuel questions about a possible reshuffle, without any imminent change to the government team having been publicly established.

These statements come in a context marked by several episodes of political tensions surrounding Senegalese President and Ousmane Sonko. On 25 October, a member of the Diomaye Shields accused the prime minister of disloyalty. On 31 October, Cheikh Bara Ndiaye accused Faye of excluding Sonko from a ceremony.
