Twenty-eight officials from PASTEF are reportedly removed from the Presidency of the Republic and removed from professional WhatsApp groups. The measure, reported by Senego, comes amid political reshuffling around Bassirou Diomaye Faye, marked by departures of figures from the presidential camp and the strengthening of KIIRAAY.

Twenty-eight officials presented as being from PASTEF have reportedly been dismissed from the Presidency of the Republic and removed from the professional WhatsApp groups to which they belonged, Senego reports. The dismissal remains presented as unconfirmed information.

The departures would be part of a gradual reshuffling of the presidential entourage. As early as October 2024, about a dozen coordinators of the Patriotic Youth of Senegal (JPS), a movement affiliated with PASTEF, had been appointed as officials at the Presidency.

In July 2026, several members of the JPS and organisations affiliated with PASTEF announced their resignations, some of them holding positions at the Presidency and wishing to join the political movement led by Bassirou Diomaye Faye. On 11 September 2026, a wave of dismissals and appointments at the Council of Ministers also fuelled debate over a possible “de-PASTEFisation” of the administration and the strengthening of KIIRAAY, the political party associated with the president.

At the launch of KIIRAAY on 26 July 2026, Armed Forces Minister Yankhoba Diémé said: “PASTEF kenn dessatufa”. This reshuffling is therefore accompanied by changes within the presidential apparatus and the departure of officials from the patriotic movement.
