Middle Belt youths announce a mobilisation campaign backing President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027. The movement, linked to the City Boy Movement and the All Progressives Congress, plans to mobilise voters in the region, according to Leadership.

Youths from the Middle Belt, a region in central Nigeria, have announced their support for President Bola Tinubu and his bid for re-election in 2027, as well as the launch of a mobilisation campaign with the City Boy Movement and the APC, the ruling party. Isaac Balami, an aviation entrepreneur and official of the City Boy Movement, announced the initiative after a meeting between Tinubu and Middle Belt figures led by former Chief of Army Staff Theophilus Danjuma, Leadership reports.

Isaac Balami said youths in the movement wanted to follow the political direction of their elders and mobilise voters in the region in support of Tinubu. A delegation of Middle Belt youths had previously announced plans to mobilise 10 million votes for the president, according to Leadership.

The group had supported Peter Obi, the Labour Party candidate in the 2023 presidential election, in which he performed well in several Middle Belt states, notably Plateau and Nasarawa. Balami explained the change in position for 2027 by the increased presence of figures from the region in strategic government positions and their participation in national decision-making.

The mobilisation is to involve the leadership of the City Boy Movement, including Seyi Tinubu and Director-General Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, as well as the APC campaign council, according to Leadership.
