The Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) carried out air strikes on 3 and 4 November against three bases or positions attributed to armed groups in the Koro, Sandaré and Sofara areas of Mali, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces, cited by Netafrique. The operations were conducted as part of Operation Dougoukoloko.
A first base, located 52 kilometres north-east of Koro, was identified on 3 November through intelligence and targeted after the presence of individuals, motorcycles and a fuel depot was confirmed. On 4 November, a second suspected base was struck 40 kilometres north-east of Sandaré, where vehicles, motorcycles and a fuel depot were among the items present, according to the General Staff.
On the same day, a third target was identified 40 kilometres north-west of Sofara. The Malian army said it had struck a group described as terrorist, two of whose members were travelling by motorcycle under vegetation cover. The motorcycle was completely burned and other equipment was destroyed by fire, Netafrique reported.
Surveillance and reconnaissance operations are continuing in the three areas to assess the effects of the strikes, establish a consolidated assessment and identify any residual threats, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces. The operations follow several strikes announced on 5 November against positions attributed to armed groups in Mali.
