The Malian army carried out strikes on 28 October against armed groups’ positions in the north, south-east and centre of the country. The operations, conducted with support from partners as part of Operation Dougoukoloko, aim to monitor and secure the territory, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces.
The Malian army carried out several strikes against positions and armed groups in the north, south-east and centre of Mali on Wednesday, 28 October 2026. The operations targeted, among other sites, a gathering point north of the village of Talhandak, nine motorbikes each carrying two armed individuals in the Nangola area, in the Dioïla region, and an armed group about 32 kilometres west of Djenné, according to a statement issued by the General Staff of the Armed Forces on Friday in Bamako.
North of Talhandak, Malian forces said they had located, using intelligence gathered on the ground, a position sheltering fighters and stocks of military and logistical equipment. Near Nangola and Djenné, the groups travelling by motorbike were reportedly detected by surveillance assets before being struck. The command said no movement had been observed after the strike near Djenné.
The operations were carried out with the support of partners as part of Operation Dougoukoloko, launched to monitor, control and secure Malian territory. They follow strikes against two targets in Talhandak and Ménaka, announced on 22 October.
