Mali’s Transitional President, Assimi Goïta, presented four priorities for Mali at the third Russia-Africa Summit in Moscow on 29 October: national security, information sovereignty, institutional reforms and economic transformation, according to Mali Actu.
On security, the head of state defended strengthening the capabilities of the Malian Armed Forces and reorganising the national security system. He also called for security gains to be translated into practical services, including the return of public services, the reopening of schools, and the resumption of judicial and economic activity in the areas concerned.
Assimi Goïta denounced disinformation campaigns targeting Mali and the Alliance of Sahel States, comprising Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger, according to him. He praised Tafouk TV, the Confederation’s television channel, as a communications tool for initiatives in the Sahel region. He also situated national reforms within Mali Vision 2063, a long-term development strategy.
The speech builds on the sovereign partnerships defended by Assimi Goïta at the Moscow summit on 29 October. The Malian president had travelled there on 25 October to take part in the Russia-Africa meeting.
