Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday questioned the governing experience and political management abilities of Peter Obi, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for the 2027 presidential election. During a political rally in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Tinubu compared his record as Lagos governor with Obi's record as governor of Anambra State, according to Tribune Online.
Tinubu notably criticised Peter Obi for failing to resolve erosion problems during his tenure in Anambra, before highlighting his own actions to address coastal challenges in Lagos. The Nigerian president also questioned Obi's ability to manage his party's affairs, claiming that he had failed to resolve internal problems within the NDC, according to Tribune Online.
Tinubu also urged his supporters to back his government programme and said his administration would overcome poverty, ignorance and economic decline, according to Tribune Online. The attack comes after criticism of Tinubu following Atiku's disqualification on 5 November.
