Tinubu and Shettima backed for re-election in 2027Number 10 · Open Government Licence (Royaume-Uni)

Nigeria’s APC president, Nentawe Yilwatda, describes the Bola Tinubu-Kashim Shettima ticket as the strongest in Nigeria’s political history and calls for its re-election in 2027. He notably defends the government’s economic reforms and infrastructure projects, according to a statement by his adviser Abimbola Tooki.

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Nentawe Yilwatda defended the removal of the fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange market, two economic measures of Bola Tinubu’s government. He described them as necessary to rebuild the economy and strengthen public finances on Saturday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, according to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki.

Nentawe Yilwatda acknowledged that the reforms had created difficulties for households and businesses. He said the government was seeking to reduce their effects through economic stabilisation measures, social interventions and infrastructure investments.

The APC chairman also highlighted the major highway projects launched by Bola Tinubu, saying they should improve links between regions, facilitate trade and create new economic opportunities. He called for these policies to continue so that the expected benefits of the reforms can materialise during a second term.

The mobilisation comes three days after Vice-President Kashim Shettima defended Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms in Calabar on 3 November. It also extends the campaign led by Shettima for Tinubu’s re-election, including his mobilisation in Nasarawa State on 4 November (Shettima defends Tinubu’s economic reforms and Shettima mobilises Nasarawa for Tinubu’s re-election).
