Rachel Hassana Bulus, a 13-year-old Nigerian girl abducted on 21 April 2026 in Awon community, in Kachia local government area of Kaduna State, died hours after her release on 3 November, according to her mother Monica Bulus, quoted by Leadership Weekend. The girl had been held for seven months and was in a severely weakened condition when she was taken to Alheri Clinic, where her family struggled to obtain blood for a transfusion.
Monica Bulus said her daughter repeatedly told her that she was going to die and had asked to see her younger brothers and sisters. Her condition reportedly improved slightly after a blood transfusion before deteriorating. The mother said she could not confirm whether her daughter had been sexually assaulted during her captivity.
Rachel Hassana Bulus's father, Bulus Bawa, attributed her deteriorating condition to hunger and said the abductees were not adequately fed during their detention. He also said the family had paid three million naira to secure his daughter's release, according to Leadership Weekend.
