Nigeria's Economic and Financial Crimes Commission recovered more than 1,233 billion nairas and secured 10,872 convictions between October 2023 and July 2026. Its spokesperson Dele Oyewale also announced the discovery of an illegal refinery in the south-west, according to This Day.

Nigeria's Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recovered more than 1,233 billion nairas, plus an unspecified amount in foreign currency, between 1 October 2023 and 31 July 2026. The EFCC also secured 10,872 convictions over the same period, according to its spokesperson Dele Oyewale.

The operations were carried out under the leadership of Ola Olukoyede, executive chairman of the EFCC. Dele Oyewale also confirmed the discovery of an illegal refinery in south-west Nigeria, after investigations linked to illegal lithium processing facilities.

The EFCC had arrested on 23 October 14 Chinese nationals and one Nigerian suspected of operating illegal lithium processing facilities in the same area. Investigators then found the refinery and its equipment, but no arrests were made during that operation, Dele Oyewale said at a joint press conference in Abuja.
